Workshops

Workshops at the DMECC Youth Leadership Summit are dynamic, interactive sessions designed to enhance participants' skills and knowledge in various areas of leadership and community engagement. Each workshop focuses on practical applications, encouraging attendees to collaborate, think critically, and explore innovative solutions to real-world challenges.

Participants will engage in hands-on activities, group discussions, and role-playing scenarios that foster teamwork and leadership qualities. Topics covered may include conflict resolution, effective communication, community mapping, and design thinking, allowing participants to gain valuable insights into the complexities of global issues.

Led by experienced facilitators and guest speakers, these workshops provide a supportive environment for young leaders to develop their unique leadership styles, build confidence, and prepare for future challenges. By the end of the summit, participants will leave with not only enhanced skills but also a deeper understanding of how to implement their learnings in their communities.

Leadership Skills Development

  • Leadership Styles Exploration:

    • An interactive session where participants delve into various leadership styles, discovering and identifying their own unique approach.

  • Role-Playing Scenarios:

    • Participants actively practice leadership skills through immersive role-playing scenarios, tackling challenges like conflict resolution and team management.

  • Group Discussion:

    • A thought-provoking discussion on the essential qualities of effective leaders and strategies for personal development.

Workshop 2

Community Engagement and NGO Collaboration
  • Introduction to NGOs:

    • Insightful presentations by representatives from partner NGOs, detailing their missions and the challenges they face.

  • Community Mapping Exercise:

    • Participants collaboratively map out their own communities, pinpointing areas of need and identifying potential resources6.

  • Project Planning Session:

    • In groups, participants develop impactful community engagement projects, integrating the support and expertise of NGO partners.

  • Feedback and Refinement:

    • Groups present their project plans, receiving constructive feedback from peers and NGO representatives to refine and enhance their initiatives.

Innovative Solutions for Global Challenges
  • Brainstorming Session:

    • Participants engage in a creative brainstorming session, generating innovative solutions to global challenges presented by NGO partners.

  • Design Thinking Workshop:

    • A hands-on workshop where participants apply design thinking principles to develop and refine their ideas.

  • Prototype Development:

    • Participants bring their ideas to life by creating tangible prototypes, using provided materials.

  • Presentation and Feedback:

    • Groups showcase their prototypes, receiving valuable feedback from peers, mentors, and NGO representatives to further improve their solutions
